Maryland continues to encourage those 65 and older and who have underline health conditions to get vaccinated. This is all apart of Phase 1. According to the Charles County Department of Health, Phase 2 allows adults 16-64 years old and who are at increased risk of severe COVID-19 illness due to comorbidities and essential workers in critical utilities, such as; transportation, food service, etc. to get vaccinated.
“Phase 2 will begin after the majority of Phase 1 has been vaccinated or the federal government’s allocation of vaccines increase. Phase 3 will begin once the majority of Phase 2 has been vaccinated and/or the federal government’s allocation of vaccines to the state increase. At this time, none of the available COVID-19 vaccines are authorized for individuals under the age of 16,” says Charles County Department of Health.
