Could John Wall & Demarcus Cousins Reunite in Washington?

The two former Kentucky Wildcats could be linking up

Let’s go back to the 2009-10 NCAA basketball season. The Kentucky Wildcats are coached by John Calipari and have arguably the best starting lineup in college hoops. 2009 No.2 recruit John Wall and No. 3 recruit Demarcus Cousins are the freshman stars who earned a 35-3 record on the season.

Four of the starters on that team are currently in the NBA. The other two being junior forward Patrick Peterson and freshman point guard Eric Bledsoe. Sadly the team didn’t even make it to the final four and got upset 73-63 in the elite eight by West Virginia.

Fast forward a decade and every basketball fan knows Washington Wizards floor general Wall and the current dominant free-agent center Cousins. This past Wednesday Wall guest appeared on IG live for ESPN’s “The Undefeated.” He told Marc Spears how he felt about obtaining the center.

“Oh man, you know I’m trying to push for that. I’ve been on that for like five years. I want to sign him right now. I’m like ‘bro, be smart, take your time to get all the way healthy so you can show these people what you’re all about. I want him to focus on that and get back to the Boogie that he was.” – John Wall

With the NBA season starting back in July, Cousins is still recovering from a torn ACL that he received in Lakers practice 10 months ago. Wall who suffered a ruptured Achilles Tendon has been taking his time coming back and already announced he won’t be playing the duration of the season. Cousins has had a rough stretch since joining the stacked Warriors and Lakers teams and hasn’t even got a chance to do what he was known for in Sacramento and New Orleans.

Both with the chemistry and brotherhood they obtained in college and over the years this could only be a win-win for the Wizards. Cousins wouldn’t cost much since he has a lot to prove after these past couple years and he knows that the star player has his back with management. Last but not least the most important thing is that Wall believes his brother will be back and better.
