A California man named Robert Bell Wallace was pronounced dead after he took a visit to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana in April. His death has been counted as the fourth American to die at a Dominican Republic resort within 3 months. While Wallace’s family is still in shock due to him being in good health before the visit, other families are looking for answers for their loved ones. Edward Holmes and Cynthia Day were an engaged couple from Maryland who were found dead at the Bahia Principe La Romana resort on May 30th. Another woman, Miranda Schaup-Werner, from Pennsylvania died at the same hotel as Holmes and his fiance on May 25th. The U.S State Department released a statement to fox news confirming the deaths. “The U.S Department of State and our embassies and consulates abroad have no greater responsibility than the protection of U.S citizens overseas. Out of respect to the family during this difficult time, we have no further comment.” The autopsy reports for the engaged couple from Maryland and the Pennsylvania woman came back the same, with the cause of death being respiratory failure and pulmonary edema.
