The owners of RASA, Sahil Rahman and Rahul Vinod have beat the odds during this pandemic opening their second RASA restaurant in DC’s Mt. Vernon Triangle.
Their Indian bowls have been a hit since they opened in Navy Yard back in 2017. To celebrate their entry into the community, the RASA staff members handed out free meals to the neighborhood and solicited $10 donations for D.C’s. Central Kitchen. The second location has added new items to the menu including a vegan oat milk soft serve, a masala chai flavor, and a mango lassi flavor. They have also added some tasty treats and sides to the menu like mini samosas and chai chocolate chip cookies.
On draft, they’ve added two cocktails: a Mumbai mule with their homemade ginger syrup, Indian rum with club soda, and a mint julep with a dash cardamom. RASA customers can now add poached eggs and avocado to their bowls for a small up-charge.
The owners explained that it had been hectic opening the same week DC banned indoor seating to slow the spread of COVID-19, and yet through all the ups and downs of this pandemic, RASA Mt Vernon is here.
In lieu of their opening, RASA partnered with World Central Kitchen with assistance from their investor Vernon Davis, and developer JBG Smith to launch their “Feed the District” campaign. RASA and World Kitchen made over 10,000 meals for the initiative.
RASA in Mt. Vernon Triangle will be open for takeout for carryout and outdoor seating from 11 am – 9 pm Sunday – Thursday and closing at 10 pm Friday and Saturday. Online ordering from the new location will be available on Monday, August 3rd.
