Originally from Louisville, Mississippi, Julius Gipson better known as $ky or $kyOfficial has been on grind for quite some time now, and his fan base is starting to grow with the work ethic. With the growth happening in the industry, he looks to work with more artist who are growing with the industry.

He has also had dealings with Epic Records and other Global Brands/record labels . He hopes to finally land a deal that could better the life of him and his family. He says that he believes signing a deal is more convenient for him than starting his own label… due to the fact that global labels have a more vivid way of promoting his vision .

Tell us about your recent release:

$ky  – I have recently dropped an album called “demon season” on all platforms, if you listen to the full album you will hear how hungry and motivated I am! Before that tape I had dropped bad girls and weed on all platforms, in that tape I share my experience with the ladies.

Who inspired you to make music?

$ky – Many people have inspired me such as Bob Marley, Future, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and many others.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

$ky – I try to be different with my music, its more so melodic, I’m always switching my flow so it never gets boring. I can actually sing a little so that helps out a lot.

What is your creative process like?

$ky – I have a simple process, basically anything that comes to my head I will create it into a song.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

$ky – I would love to collaborate with Swae Lee, it feels like we are on the same creative wave, also Future.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

$ky – I would tell my fans to follow their dreams no matter what it is; fire fighting, pro gaming , and in even sports, no matter how hard things may seem, life will eventually give you a break if you work hard towards what you love doing , things will fall in place!

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

$ky – I am a truck driver, so if it wasn’t for music I would put all of my energy into driving trucks.

Where have you performed?

$ky –I have performed at a couple clubs down here in Mississippi

How would you say Social Media has impacted your music career?

$ky –Social media has gave me the chance to reach out to artist all over the world, I love to work with artist and market, also I’m able to build fan base from social media.

Which famous musician(s) do you admire?

$ky – I admire young thug because he wasn’t afraid to be different, Young thug has opened a musician portal for many to walk through.

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

$ky – I have never really got into anything crazy as far as being in trouble everything was just little petty charges.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

$ky – The best advice I was given was “don’t ever let other people be the judge for you! be your own man.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

$ky – I feel like there is a lot of talent that’s not noticed in the industry, the industry need to give real talent a chance.

What’s next for you?

$ky – I have a couple feats I have to bust out then on to my next project; Might drop a few singles so look out!
