June Popi is an artist that has hopped on our radar as of late. Recently releasing a powerful new single titled, “Dirty Birds”, June originally caught our attention after his successful release of a record by the name of “Nawf”. After receiving some positive notoriety from his last single, it appears June Popi is on “Go Mode” as he continues to drop new music and content. With a unique tone and some solid records, June Popi looks to make a bigger name for Oklahoma City and open up the music scene. We took the time out a few weeks ago to sit down with the OKC native and discuss a few things while highlighting some past and present music.

How do you currently feel about the music industry?

I feel like it’s probably some BS, but y’all be making it look straight i guess.

What are some things you would like to see in the future for indie artists?

More avenues to get heard

Tell us about your latest release “Dirty Birds”. What was the inspiration for that record?

I walked outside and saw a bird shitted on my car that morning

During the COVID-19 virus, how are you navigating as an artist?

It slowed down tryna travel & be where I need to be, so I needed to figure out creative ways to establish my brand and get myself going

Do you feel that it has helped or hurt artists/the culture/the industry?

I feel like it slowed down a lot of opportunities, but at the same time it gave us more time to perfect on our craft

What can we expect from you throughout the remainder of 2020?

Expect the unexpected.
