Russell Westbrook Passes Wilt Chamberlain for Most Consecutive Games With Triple-Doubles

Russell Westbrook made more history last night. He now holds the record for the most consecutive triple-doubles in NBA history with 10 games.

Previously he was tied was legendary center Wilt Chamberlain at 9 games. The record couldn’t have been achieved in a better way than his 10th assist going to his red-hot teammate Paul George. Westbrook finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.

George also recorded a triple-double, torching the Portland Trailblazers with 47 points. He grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.

Chamberlain set the record back in 1968, but 51-years later it was finally broken. After the game Westbrook had this to say:

“Definitely an unbelievable moment. I don’t know, because honestly, bro, I know what I’m capable of doing, and I just go out and compete and whatever happens, happens, man. I never even dreamed of playing in the NBA or standing here talking to you guys. So, each moment is a blessing for me. Each time I get to walk into this locker room and see my name up there, it’s a blessing for me.

“That’s an unbelievable moment in of itself. Just to be able to wake and be able to have a job, have a jersey, have a name on your back, because to me that’s a blessing itself and something I never even dreamed about as a kid.” – Russell Westbrook

Thunders’ Hot Streak

The Oklahoma Thunder went to win 120-111 and improve their record to 37-19. They currently sit at the number 3 seed in the Western Conference. During this 10 game streak, the Thunder are 9-1 and Westbrook is averaging 19.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 13.8 assists per game.

With this triple-double, Russ now sits at third-all-time with 127. Magic Johnson sits at number two with 138 and Oscar Robertson leads with 181.

Westbrook and George are also the first teammates in NBA history to post a 20 point triple-double game together. For the highlights watch below.
