A thief in Stafford County, Virginia, may have hit the jackpot. The sheriff’s office says a suspect broke into a Fas-Mart convenience store on Garrisonville Road early Saturday morning and stole nearly 12,000 scratch-off lottery tickets and 170 cartons of cigarettes.
A Stafford County deputy responded to a business alarm at the store about 4:35 a.m. and found a window was shattered. When more deputies showed up to assist, they swept the building and canvassed the area, but the suspect was nowhere to be found. The owner of the shop told police the scratch-off tickets valued between $10 and $30 each, leading to a loss of between $120,000 and $360,000.
