We had the opportunity to ask Flava Fe a few questions about her profession, learn more about the 90’s vintage-inspired photographer.
Why did you choose to pursue a career as a photographer?
I’ve always had a passion and eye for photography since I was younger. My mother and father always bought me disposable cameras and over time It led to them buying me a little digital camera. When I got older I took It and ran with It because I love photography.
Are you a detail-oriented person?
Yes, I am very detail-oriented and my work shows that.
Among your works, which one is your favorite? Why?
Every single piece I’ve put out is my favorite. Art is perfectly imperfect and timeless. I love my art and I always inspire myself to grow more.
Off-Topic: What you eat for breakfast?
I ate eggs, grits, and bacon.
What type of cameras do you shoot with?
These last few years I have been shooting with Canon.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been a photographer for about five years now.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography is not only an outlet for me but it’s a moment in time that has been captured that you can no longer get back. That’s special and a lot of people don’t view It that way. It’s meaningful.
Off-Topic: Who is your favorite music artist?
I have many but right now Brent Faiyaz, Yung Bleu, Baby B, Future, & K Camp are in rotation in my playlists.
How do you plan for a shoot?
I usually make sure all of my batteries are charged, I have a memory card in the slot, and make sure I do some form of meditation. Also, I make sure I pep talk myself a lot.
Whose work has influenced you most?
Hands down, Hype Williams.
What are your career goals?
One of my career goals is to create a platform for creatives to thrive in, as in creating job opportunities for them. More career goals, is to be more focused, take more advantage of these grants given out, and travel more.
