The DMV Daily Interviews: Elon

 I’ve had the “name” Elonthedon for about 3 years now, before I started making music. My ex suggested a different @ name from what used to be “ElonDyese” and it stuck.

– I was a nationally ranked 100m hurdler and triple jumper in middle – high school. Track was life until I tore my hamstring.

– I can speak Japanese. I learned it in middle school. I’m not fluent but I can hold a conversation.

Abstracted, Versatile, Gifted, Honest, & Pure

Before I record, I have to be lit. I feel like most artists smoke before they get in the booth. Sativa is for the creative mind. I let the beat rock a few times and sing/rap a couple bars of the song to warm up my voice. Honey works wonders when I’m trying to hit the right notes.

 When it comes to performing, I move around a lot and dance my nerves out to whatever music is playing before my set. Not only am I less nervous because everyone can see I’m already lit but it pumps me up for the show I’m about to put on. Also..Water is important!!! I’m always drinking lots of it.

 The media industry is a GREAT outlet for artists to build their brand/fan base but I do feel like this generation abuses that right. There are many artists exploiting themselves negatively to get their music noticed and I’m not surprised when it works. Compare music now from 15 years ago…

Although music is my main focus, I model and sketch. I’ve been modeling for 5 years. My mom’s an artist so I came out the womb drawing.

 My close friend Ashton wanted to shoot me for his brother’s clothing line DAFT when it first dropped back in 10th grade. I really didn’t realize how beautiful I was and felt until after that shoot. I got the edits and knew it wasn’t my last.

 I will always have love for Naomi Campbell and Kimora Lee Simmons. I can name plenty of other influences but who honestly will ever walk better than Naomi? Baby Phat is legendary and Kimora is the definition of a BOSS chick.

 I NEED to shoot in Dubai. I will.

 I’d like to work with more female artists and female media personalities. I don’t care who it is as long as they’re grinding & talented at what they do. It’s draining dealing with women who are trying to step on your toes instead of uplift each other. We already go through enough in this industry just because we are female.

Queen Ashlee will always get love, the first female artist I’ve worked with! S/O to Yoko Mcthuggin, she up next!
