Your dancing origin
I started dancing at the age of 7 at the living soul & worshipping arts center in laurel,md. My mother danced so of course at that age i was just following her footsteps but i loved it. I trained in the genres of ballet, jazz, tap & hip-hop dance while there. I stopped dancing there around the age of 13 when i entered middle school. There i joined the step team, which i now know as a form of dance called “ body percussion “. In high school ( Laurel High School) , I entered the dance program where i there discovered my love of dance. There it was no longer movement but an expression. I then went on to undergrad to pursue my degree in dance at Coppin state, and am currently at Pratt institute earning my masters degree in movement therapy. I Have This far toured for many upcoming hip-hop artists and mainstream African artists.
Favorite styles of dancing :
My absolute favorite styles of dance are modern, african, and hip-hop. I love ballet but to me, dance is all about expression. In these listed styles pf dance i can really release, express& be myself.
Your biggest influences :
Martha graham is a huge influence of mine. She was one of the first famous choreographers to come up with the concept that dance could be more “ pedestrian & less structured” and of course my high school dance professor Ms.Martin is another huge influence of mine. She is the one who taught me to always let my movement mean something. She taught me to feel.
Media personalities and dancers you want to work with?
Galen Hooks & Luam are my two absolute favorite choreographers and i aspire to one day work with them. They are the perfect example of my idea of what dance is supposed to be. A feeling.
What other things you do?
Outside of dance my favorite thing to do is cook. I just like to be creative all around. Ice skating & reading a good book at home are also two of my favorite things to do.
Any Shout outs?
My only shoutout would have to be to my god. Its through him that i have all things that i have now? And all that is to come. I pray i never forget that as i progress in this life.
