The Sit Down Breaks Down Show Origins and show details

Quoya-The Sit Down is the new regime for the creative spotlight. Highlighting talents of all kind that often get overlooked. We plan to change the narrative while covering entertainment news, sports & fashion that has an impact on OUR culture!

AyeBigJohn-The Sit Down came about 2 years ago while me and Quoya were interning at studio 202 dc working under a few well known podcast in the area. The energy and many creatives from the area we met inspired us to create our own platform for the plethora of talent in our hometown

Get to know the inspirations and faces of the show

Quoya-The lack of creative support in the DMV. We didn’t see enough positive outlets that let creatives display their talents if they aren’t well known locally. There are a lot of talented people in this area that don’t get the recognition they deserve and we want to change that.

AyeBigJohn-TSD of course is produced by myself AyeBigJohn & my lovely Co-host Quoya but we wouldn’t be able to put out the great quality of work that we do without our friends over at “The Guild”. The Guild is a collective of individuals who’s goal is to create, cultivate and inspire quality expression through visual, audio and material events at the forefront of art & entertainment of the DMV!

– Have a passion for motivating people and seeing everyone eat!

Quoya-I would say for me my biggest influences are Angie Martinez and our local royal hypeness Angie Ange. They both are well respected in their community and in their profession. I aspire to reach that level some day.

AyeBigJohn- I’ve got to say my biggest influences range from Angie Martinez, Ebro Darden, Charlemagne The God, Donnie Simpson, Cathy Hughes & let’s not for get the late Ms. Sheila Stewart which is the reason I fell in love with radio in the first place.

Catch their opinions about the industry, and collaborative dreams

AyeBigJohn-There is no specific person or entity we could name to collaborate with. We just want to partner with individuals that have a similar vision as we do, people that want to see others in the dmv shine and get the praise the deserve.

Quoya-The entertainment industry is a dog eat dog world. Nowadays most people are surviving by clout and not talent but in the long run they won’t sustain. When you create quality content, have a great support system and have a head for business I feel like you can be successful and have longevity in the entertainment industry. Because there are people that will take advantage of you if you don’t at least have good people around you.

Peep the shout outs and final thoughts here!

Quoya-Shoutout to our guys over at The Guild. They’re the ones that help us out with a lot of stuff for our show. We wouldn’t be able to do it with out them. Follow them @GuildedOnes on Twitter and Instagram. A lot more content coming soon.

AyeBigJohn-More than anything we just want to thank TheDMVDaily for the opportunity & also we’d like to give an open invitation to all artists and creatives to come work with us so we can continue to uplift and put in for our area so we can get that shine we deserve.
