K.T.S.E (Keep That Same Energy) marks a rebirth for G.O.O.D. Music artist Teyana Taylor. Knowing her from the days she collaborated with Wale, I always knew she had a amazing voice. Her talent can speak for herself and I’m glad to see her get some shine for her music instead of just her amazing aesthetics. Even though this album is incomplete due to clearance and production issues, it’s a pretty enjoyable project from Teyana Taylor. To me It serves as a good start for her to compete along the lines of SZA, H.E.R., Beyonce, Rihanna, etc…. She has the ability. and look to do so.
The album could have been so much better if some of the tracks were longer and if Teyana was allowed to express her artistry even more. An example of this was the track A Rose In Harlem, a very well produced and executed song which showcased the potential her future music has. From start to finish, I enjoyed Teyana vocal ability albeit it’s not her full album. Remember she started as an musician so let’s remember that she is a musician and hopefully people will as well!
Final Verdict 8.25/10
Pros: Great vocals, great production on some tracks, A Rose In Harlem, strong rebirth, Teyana’s creativity, a good starting point for music relaunch
Cons: Inconsistent, too short, not clearing samples, a restriction on Teyana’s creativity
