2018 Jay Rock makes a triumphant return

redemption

TDE artist Jay Rock has been known in the industry for awhile by avid hip hop fans and music professional alike. After years of being under the radar, Jay Rock drops a major release and I will say I am impressed. Redemption is the title and Jay Rock tells a lyrical hood tale from the first track to finish. From gang adventures, motorcycle accidents, apologizing to his girl, and his promise to deliver more music in the future, Jay Rock delivers. Features from J.Cole, SZA, Future, Kendrick, and Jeremih add to the quality the album brings. My only gripe is that the album starts a little slow and there is a little inconsistency in Jay Rock’s sound but overall its solid work.  I hope to hear more good music from him in the future.

Final Verdict

9/10

Pros: Features, production, content, powerful

Cons: slow start, inconsistent sound

Favorite Tracks: OSOM, Troopers, Wow Freestyle
