Wizards Still Seeking First Summer League Win as They Lose in Double Overtime to Nets
Cam Thomas leads the Nets to a thrilling win against the Wizards in Double OT.
The Washington Wizards are still winless in the NBA summer league game after losing against the Brooklyn Nets. Cam Thomas hit the game-winner in double overtime to lead the Nets to an 84-81 victory. Thomas torched the Wizards all game finishing with 31 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
This game included 12 ties and 16 lead changes. It didn’t help that the Wizards were outrebounded 71-48 and their starters were outscored 54-29. The most devasting stat besides the atrocious rebounding margin may have been the fact that there were no starters in double figures.
Still take this loss with a grain of salt as the Wizards are missing six players. The bright spots came from the bench and as Jamie Echenique scored 17 points, collected four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Austin Hollins and Mason Jones scored 13 points apiece.
Washington’s next opponent will be the Milwaukee Bucks this Sunday.
