Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid have settled their respective collusion grievance cases against the NFL.

Announced today, both sides won’t be able to comment about the settlement but Kaepernick and Reid will be leaving the table with some financial compensation.

The NFL Players Association commented on the matter and said: “We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests, participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial in pursuit of both truth and justice for what believe the NFL and its clubs did to them,” the union said in the statement. “We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well”.

Eric Reid signed a 3-year deal with the Carolina Panthers this offseason after being picked up in the middle of the season. He faced some slight issues this season, being drug tested after seven of his games. The NFL and NFLPA denied that Reid was being targeted.

For Colin, he remains a free agent on paper. There has been no major comments about his future in football. If so, he’ll be better than most QB’s that are currently looking for jobs or trying to start.

The NFL owners avoided a major loss while taking one. There was another grievance case scheduled in a few weeks. The case is over, but the impact has truly been made. Football is a major sport in this country but the NFL’s handling of this situation was a PR mishap and has openly shown the true colors of the NFL owners.
