Ravens announced the release 31-year-old wide receiver, Michael Crabtree today. Crabtree seemed to let the Ravens down with subpar performances. Instead of keeping him another year the team is probably looking to draft and sign more wide receivers in the off-season.

2018 Production

The 10-year veteran led the NFL with 8 dropped passes. He appeared in all 16 games finishing with 54 receptions totaling to 607 yards. He caught only 3 touchdowns. In his seven games with rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, Crabtree only caught 13 passes for 135 yards and found the endzone once.

One could argue that due to the rushing game finding success through Jackson that it was hard to establish yards for receivers. Jackson still has some work to do with his pocket presence, reading defenses and passing accuracy.

This release frees up $4.67 million in cap space for the Ravens. John Brown another wide receiver for the Ravens is expected to leave in free agency. If that happens Willie Snead would be the only returning receiver that caught 20 or more passes.
