Kevin Durant Will Not Play in Game 1 of The NBA Finals; DeMarcus Cousins is Questionable
The Golden State Warriors have made their fifth straight NBA Finals appearance, but don’t let that distract you from their injuries. Today superstar small forward Kevin Durant was officially ruled out for game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.
Durant has been out with a calf strain since game 5 against the Houston Rockets in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Since Durant’s absence, the Warriors have been on a 5-game winning streak in the playoffs.
Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins, on the other hand, has been ruled questionable. Cousins has been out since April 15 since he suffered torn quadriceps. He returned to practice with the team today and scrimmaged against the reserves.
Steve Kerr the head coach for the Warriors has not yet given any details for Durant’s recovery timeline. The team has yet to decide whether he will travel to Toronto for the first two games. Kerr also stated that Durant has not been cleared for any on-court work.
