When looking back on this NBA Finals series, the end of the Warriors dynasty of this current period is worth noting.
In Game Five, Kevin Durant ruptured his Achilles after being “approved” to return to game action. That was cringeworthy as a muscle in his leg was seen to pop on National TV. To make things worse, Klay Thompson is also injured as well. During Game Six, Klay Thompson fell awkwardly on a dunk attempt. Left the game but turned around in the tunnel and hit two free throws. Those two free throws might be his last points in a Warrior uniform as Thompson tore his left ACL when falling.

As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Twitter, fans could just think what would have been. Golden State only lost by four points and his 30 points were major for the Warriors. There was a good chance of a Game Seven if he stayed in the game.

More broadly, Klay Thompson was entering his summer of Free Agency. Same for his teammate Kevin Durant. Now that both men are injured and will undergo long rehab processes, the NBA free agency market is shaken. And for the Warriors, they will have some spots to fill if they want to continue their Western Conference dominance.
