The “Kanye West of Baltimore” with SODUH and more, ground breaking at ‘UNFILTERED V1’ in Frederick.

YG Addie (bka A$AP ANT) surprised fans from all over by performing in his home state soon after the bustling ‘Too Cozy Tour’ with Marino Infantry. The event line up included SODUH, 36Jade, $M$ Leel, and Frisco; all of whom are from Maryland’s experimental and flowering music underground.

SODUH started in one of Baltimore’s popular music collectives, ZYOBWOC Nation, and has gained notoriety for his unique voice and numerous captivating video releases; the latest being,“Big So,” on Elevator. He and Addie have shared the stage before and, as usual, brought the heat with them on a chill winter night at Frederick’s Café 611. The event highlighted their numerous video and music collaborations that have been steadily released for several years including the lastest visuals “$cholar,” produced by Lord Fubu and directed by Exigence Films.

36Jade (or Young Jade) also hails from Baltimore, and built an underground career with his unit and family including the Celebration Club, and Gino the Architect. His performance was an early Christmas present to fans after his latest release “MoonWalkers” dropped on iTunes.

$M$ Leel is a promising talent from Germantown, Maryland. His memorable lyrics and affinity for “street money shit” allow him to stand out from one of the most densely populated cities in the state. Leel’s set to release his next EP “Cookie No Milk” in early 2018.

The show opener, Frisco LaRoche was raised in the nearby city, Gaithersburg, and since 2011 has regularly performed in Frederick. He is most recognized for his opening performance at Frederick’s Anchorfest for Lil Uzi Vert and Playboy Carti, and also a 2015 SoundCloud release titled “Maryland” that has drawn attention as a state anthem.

Café 611 has long been the only African American owned restaurant in Frederick County, and has also been repeatedly recognized for its contributions to local economic development.
