Chris Brown Files $500M Defamation Lawsuit Against Warner Bros. Discovery
Chris Brown is suing Warner Brothers Discovery for $500 million, accusing them of defamation over the Investigation Discovery docuseries Chris Brown: A History of Violence. The lawsuit claims the series falsely labels Brown as a “serial rapist and sexual abuser” despite no sex-related convictions, ignoring his personal growth since his 2009 assault case involving Rihanna. It also alleges “Jane Doe,” who accused Brown of assault, was discredited and her case dismissed. Brown’s attorney argues the documentary spread falsehoods for profit, harming his reputation and undermining true survivors of violence.
“To put it simply, this case is about the media putting their own profits over the truth. They did so after being provided proof that their information was false, and their storytelling ‘Jane Doe’ had not only been discredited over and over but was in fact a perpetrator of intimate partners violence and aggressor herself,” the complaint states. “Mr. Brown has never been found guilty of any sex related crime…but this documentary states in every available fashion that he is a serial rapist and sexual abuser.”
