Cam Newton Resigns With New England Patriots

Cam Newton Resigns With New England Patriots
  • PublishedMarch 14, 2021

2020 was a rough year for not only the New England Patriots but their starting quarterback Cam Newton. A lot of critics thought that it may be the end for Newton but the Patriots will be resigning him to a one-year deal according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal is worth up to $14 M. With this signing it’s not sure if the Patriots will still look for another quarterback to compete for the position. Most likely I’m sure it wouldn’t stop them as they continue to rebuild in the post-Tom Brady era.

Without pre-season games, coming into learning a new offense, and having a lack of weapons on offense the struggle wasn’t too surprising for Newton.

For the 2020 season, he completed 65.8% of his passes but only threw for 2657 yards. He also threw for 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Newton was far more productive scoring with his legs getting 12 touchdowns with 592 rushing yards.
