The Philadelphia Eagles are committed to Carson Wentz through 2024 with a 4-year extension worth $128M. Over $107M is guaranteed according to a source close to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The highest it can escalate to is a max of $144M. Wentz’s total deal now totals to $154M over 6 years. The deal can reach a max of $170M.

Wentz played all 16 games in his rookie year and threw for 3,782 yards. He had 16 touchdowns with 14 interceptions and set an NFL rookie record with 379 completions.

Before his 2017 injury, he awed Eagles fans leading them to an 11-2 record along with 3,926 passion yards and a single-season team record of 33 touchdowns. Wentz only had 7 interceptions on the season. He went on to finish third in MVP voting behind Tom Brady and Todd Gurley II.

Injury History

It’s good that the Eagles believe they have found their franchise quarterback, but NFL fans can only wonder if the injury-prone Wentz will be able to make it. He has suffered two significant injuries so far in his career. Back in December 2017, he tore his ACL, causing him to miss the last 3 games of the season and their Super Bowl title run.

The next season Wentz returned in week 3 and earned a 5-6 record in 11 games before suffering a stress fracture in his back. Again he missed the final 3 games of the season. Wentz finished with 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 69.6% completion rate.
