The Fiery Guard Hopes to Return to Boston for Game 4.

Marcus Smart stated this afternoon that he is hopeful for a return tomorrow evening for Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Smart suffered an oblique tear in the third quarter on April 7 against the Orlando Magic.  The injury couldn’t have been worse timing for the 4th seeded Celtics as it was the season finale for them.

The guard was cleared for his first practice this past Saturday. After practice Smart had this to say:

“Feeling good today. Today was a good day. I was able to participate with the team. … The boxes are being checked. We’re taking it one day at a time, but we’re definitely in the right position, right time, progressive phase to where I’m getting really close to coming back here.” – Marcus Smart (Courtesy of ESPN)

Celtics coach Brad Stevens stated the training staff and Smart will make a decision if he will play tomorrow. Stevens had this to say:

“We didn’t do enough that I would be able to see anything, but it sounds like he’s doing better. He’s close, and hopefully, he’ll be available sooner rather than later. Whether he plays will] be totally up to the training staff and how he feels. It has nothing to do with me, so I’ll get their cues and go from there.” – Brad Stevens (Courtesy of ESPN)

The Bucks are currently up for 2-1 in the series. Game 4 will air on TNT at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
