Meet Active Duty Sailor in the United States Navy, Castane Arias, a Freelance Graphic Designer. He specialize in creating high quality visuals and content to help artists, businesses, and influencers. View work here: www.castanearias.com. We had the opportunity to ask him a few questions, see below.

The DMV Daily – Tell us about your chosen career path:

Castane Arias – Self taught Graphic Designer and Photographer. I’ve been freelancing since high school. Joined the Navy in 2012 to help fund my graphic design business. From that time i’ve been able to travel the world, take amazing photos, and create artwork for multiple business and artists.

The DMV Daily – Who inspired you to make the decision to do this career path?

Castane Arias – I’ve always been into art since i was a child. I spent more time doodling on my assignments in school than completing them. As i got older and married my high school sweetheart. I wanted to find a way to have my 9-5 fuel my 5-9.

The DMV Daily – What is your creative process like?

Castane Arias – I spend most of my time listening to music when I create my art. Anything from 90s to current hip hop, Lofi chill music, 80 Japanese city pop, and horror movie ambience.

The DMV Daily – Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Castane Arias – While here in the DMV area, i would love the opportunity to create for Shy Glizzy, IDK, W.A.L.E, Pusha-T and the whole Heirwave Music Group.

The DMV Daily – What is one message you would give to your supports?

Castane Arias – Thank you for trusting me with your vision

The DMV Daily – What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your chosen career?

Castane Arias – I never want to think about that. I could’ve been on a very dark path if it weren’t for what i am doing now

The DMV Daily – How would you say Social Media has impacted your career?

Castane Arias – Social media has allowed a introverted creative from the 757 to work with people and have my work admired by strangers. This was a dream from my child.

The DMV Daily – Who do you admire the most? Why?

Castane Arias – Pharrel, He is from the 757 and he made it ok to be different. I never fit in with the crowd when i was growing up. I related to him and appreciated him for embracing that.

The DMV Daily – What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Castane Arias – CREATE LIKE THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING EVEN IF YOUR FOLLOWERS, LIKES, AND COMMENTS ARE LOW. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO IS PAYING ATTENTION

The DMV Daily – If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Castane Arias – The industry is already changing for the better. The music industry knows that all they have to provide for the artist is resources. This can be done on our own.

The DMV Daily – What’s next for you?

Castane Arias – Eventually I hope to keep artwork for major labels. Retire from the military and start my own creative agency.
