The Star Defensive Lineman Broadcasted His Retirement From Atop Mount Kilimanjaro

35-year-old defensive lineman Haloti Ngata announced his retirement in an Instagram post. This wasn’t any ordinary announcement as Ngata was atop the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

The 13-year veteran posted a video atop the mountain and included a banner that read “I’m retiring from the NFL on top.”

Playing Career

Ngata started off his career by being drafted number 12 overall in 2006 by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent his first 9 seasons with the Ravens and received 5-time Pro Bowl Team selections. In 2010-2011 he earned 2 All-Pro honors accolades. He earned 3 All-Pro honors during 2008, 2009 and 2012. He won a Super Bowl with the team in 2012.

After his stint with the Ravens, Ngata was traded to the Detroit Lions for a 2015 4th round pick and a 2015 5th round pick. He played for the Lions for 3 seasons.

Ngata ended his career playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. Last March he signed a 1-year deal with the team.
