Philadelphia DA call for new Meek Mill trial
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner stated in a court appeal filed Wednesday that Rapper Meek Mill should be granted a new trial with a new judge.
Meek Mill, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, previously asked that his decade-old drug and gun convictions be thrown out due to credibility issues with the officer who testified against him.
Due to credibility issues, the officers has been sought to keep off the stand in cases across the city.
Judge Genece Brinkley has also been the subject of harsh criticism for Meek’s attorneys. They have unsuccessfully appealed Mill’s original sentence from 2-4 years in prison numerous times and has called for Brinkley to recuse herself.
Meek Mill’s incarceration has became a major cause celebre, with support and prison visits from New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
