Juwan! Give us a background on you and stoop kidz
College graduate, HBCU advocate. Entreprenegro. Trying to find my way in this thing called life like the next man. – Jugatti
Stoop Kidz was an idea me and my line brother had where we can share our unfiltered hip hop opinions in our own way. A place where we didn’t have to worry about meeting deadlines or being politically correct. Something to call our own, if you will.
Three facts about you?
I’ve lived in 6 different states, Garfield is my favorite cartoon character, I’m terrified of birds.
Five words to describe you?
innovative, hopeful, creative, dreamer, and understanding.
Everything you do media wise?
podcast host, content creator, hip hop writer & occasional video editor.
Media origin?
Earliest origin date back to high school where I would film the basketball/football games. I honed my skills at UMES where I majored in telecommunications.
What made you fall in love with it?
Man it’s a great feeling to manifest your thoughts into projects that you can share with the world. I love creating new stuff, whether successful or not, it’s a personal satisfaction for me.
Your website is dope! What was the inspiration?
Appreciate it! Originally Stoop Kidz was going to be a website where we went back and reviewed old albums. Then we realized with our vast music knowledge and opinions why not make it a full blown hip hop place. We’re closing in on our two year anniversary and we couldn’t be more excited with the things we have in store.
Explain the Pilot Talk podcast!
The podcast came about last year where me and one of my co-host Pitter went to Coachella. We was out there doing what Coachellians do and in the middle of a conversation said ‘we should start a podcast.’ I wrote it in my notes and then forgot about it. 5 months later I randomly see it in my notes and said lets do it. Ever since, we’ve hit the ground running. Currently we are in our 2nd Season entitled: “The Red Eye Flight.”
Any dream collaborations?
I truly love collabing with people that are up and coming. It brings me great joy to work on projects with people like myself who are just figuring it out as we go. Especially black millenials, because in a sense all of our backs are to the wall in this crazy world.
Any influences?
I love anyone who made a way out of no way. A person who had so many doors closed on them they said “ok ill do it myself.” With that I think of Jay-Z, Master P, Issa Rae, Diddy to name a few. I also admire people that just flat out, put out dope shit. Such as the guys who created Dusse-palooza, Trap Karaoke. Desus & Mero, Childish Gambino, Shea Serrano. It’s so many. I even admire what the homie Livengood has been doing these past few years. OD proud of you my mans.
Your long term goals?
My long term goal is to create an unapologetically black platform for all the youngins to join. To give them an opportunity that I wish I had when I was coming up in the world. Success doesn’t mean anything if you don’t put the people on game who come after you.
Finally, spell out your name with a word
