Metro To Stop Service At Eight P12 Bus Stops
Metro will stop servicing eight bus stops along the P12 route in Prince George’s County starting Sunday, January 12, due to a cease-and-desist order from the owner of the Forest Hill Apartments Complex. The affected stops are located within the neighborhood along Wheeler Hills Road in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
The property owner claims the buses’ weight has caused significant damage to the asphalt and says Metro has ignored repeated requests to address the issue or contribute to repairs. This marks the end of nearly 50 years of Metro buses operating on the private roads.
The change will impact approximately 150 daily riders, including residents of Forest Hill Apartments and Homes at Oxon Hill Senior Apartments, many of whom rely on the P12 route for commuting to work and accessing essential services.
Metro has announced alternative stops for passengers at Southern Avenue and United Medical Center, Southern Avenue and 13th Street, and Wheeler Road and Vermillion Avenue.
