Washington Safety Landon Collins Out For Season With Torn Achilles

Washington Safety Landon Collins Out For Season With Torn Achilles
  • PublishedOctober 31, 2020

Washington Football Team safety Landon Collins underwent surgery for a torn left Achilles injury on Monday. Collins will miss the rest of the season and will be placed on the injured reserve list.

The injury occurred during the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys. Washington easily won 25-3 but took a major hit losing their safety. In 2019, Collins signed a six-year deal worth $84M.

Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio had this to say about the loss of Collins:

“It’s always tough when you lose a good football player. He’s a tough guy that was voted a team captain by his peers. Obviously, any time [an injury] happens, it’s something you have to work to overcome. We’re just going to ask him to heal up and stay positive. We’re going to carry on. We’re going to continue on and expect to play well.” – Jack Del Rio

Rookie Kam Curl will replace Collins in the meantime. In seven games Collins recorded 41 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and one forced fumbled.
