D.C. Restaurant Closures Due to COVID

There’s no doubt that the restaurant industry has been getting hit pretty hard during this pandemic. Many of D.C.’s most cherished restaurants, such as Ben’s Chilli Bowl, have admitted that they have struggled to keep their business operations open during this time. Though many businesses have been able to stay afloat, others have not been so lucky. With federal business loans running out and the current dining restrictions, we predict that more permanent closures are soon to come. It’s so hard to say goodbye, but its time to say farewell to the next iconic D.C. restaurants that have announced their closings so far:

Lucky Strike DC: This bar and bowling alley in Chinatown was a D.C. favorite. Lucky Strike was known for its fantastic menu, decked out with warm mac and cheese bites and crispy wings. Lucky Strike DC was also known for providing Washingtonians with Go-Go music, the city knows and loves, every Friday night. While they have not officially announced their closing, they have removed the D.C. location off of their website.

Bareburger: The New York City burger franchise will not reopen after the coronavirus crisis. They were located in Dupont for the last four years before closing.

Momofuku DC: Famous chef David Chang has decided to conduct a company-wide overhaul. Momofuku DC will no longer be in operation after five years of service to Washington D.C.

Fado Irish Pub: This Irish pub has been serving Washingtonians for over two decades. The Irish Bar has made claims that their closing was due to other issues not related to the coronavirus.
