A Dundalk High School teacher was arrested and charged with assault involving two students, Baltimore County police announced Thursday.
30-year-old Andrew L. Rader was charged with second-degree assault, police said. He turned himself into the police Wednesday. Police said Rader, an art teacher at Dundalk, assaulted a student during class in February.
Months later, the student’s parent was shown a video of the alleged assault and contacted the school, according to the police charging documents. The charging document states the video was sent to the Baltimore County Police Crimes Against Children Unit.
According to the charging document, the victim said Rader put him in a chokehold at least 10 other times during class and that he did the same thing to other students in the class.
While the victim said he could still breathe, he told police it made him uncomfortable. The victim said the teacher would also lock him out of his phone and put pressure on his pressure points.
Rader was removed from the school and placed on administrative leave once the school administration was made aware of the allegations in April. Police said detectives continue to investigate and said there could be other possible victims.
