Last night, undefeated International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Shawn Porter went through a 12-round mega fight for the right to become unified welterweight champion. This fight exceeded expectations living up to the hype given in the months of build leading up to the bout. So much so that many have taken to social media raving about the fight calling this a Fight of the Year candidate and leaving some clamoring for a rematch. Here are just a few reactions to the mega fight:

After 12 rounds of hard hitting action the scorecards read 116-111, 116-111 and 115-112 with Errol Spence Jr. taking a split decision remaining undefeated improving his record to 26-0 and unifying the IBF and WBC welterweight championships.

A key moment during the bout was during the 11th round where Errol Spence Jr. scored a crucial knockdown connecting a picture perfect left hook to the chin. That punch was huge in giving Spence an edge on the scorecards in the home stretch of the close fight.

During the interview, Errol Spence Jr. called out World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao who was also in attendance. When asked if that was a fight Pacquiao wanted Manny responded, “sure why not.”

During Errol Spence Jr.’s post-fight interview, it was announced that Errol Spence Jr.’s  next fight and first title defense will be against former welterweight champion Danny Garcia who was in attendance for this fight serving as an analyst on the PPV for Fox Sports.

The fight will take place in 2020 but there is no confirmed time or location for the bout.
