Tell us about your recent release:
O1N – Most recent release is “Down Bad” streaming on all platforms. First release since the first video “Keep it Real”. Should be expecting a visual for this new release !
Who inspired you to make music?
O1N – My inspiration to make music really came from the feeling of expression that music gives me. I’ve been a musician all my life so that has always been my main outlet to express myself. Seeing what God brought me through in my life by the gift he gave me will always be my main inspiration.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
O1N – I would describe my music as a heartfelt street prophecy. I grew up in the streets and have seen everything that comes with it. So I just tell my story of what me and many of other young people have gone through. I speak on that as well as all the ways to overcome the streets and what comes with them.
What is your creative process like?
O1N – My creative process always differs. Sometimes I’ll link up with my producer and we cook from scratch, or sometimes he’ll just send over some beats and tell me to go from there. Usually i just try to go into the booth and vibe off top, and once i catch the vibe I’ll write some ideas out. Besides that the creative process is always a vibe for me. Not too much planned or written.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
O1N – I would most likely collaborate with anyone who makes real genuine music that matches their story. I would love to collaborate with Anderson Paak, Ty Dolla $ign, Rico Nasty and Young Thug just to name a few off the top of my head.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
O1N – One message i would give to my fans/supporters is that without them none of what i do is possible so Thank you ! P.S The STORM is COMING #ThunderSzn
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
O1N – If it wasn’t for my music I would definitely be lost trying to find my way still in the streets.
Where have you performed?
O1N – I’ve performed at the Orpheum Theatre , The Howard Theatre ,as well as a Plethora of clubs in DC.
How would you say Social Media has impacted your music career?
O1N – Recently my IG got hacked so I had to make a new one. But my fans and supporters are still very active so i’m looking forward to building back my social media presence.
Which famous musician(s) do you admire?
O1N – Famous musicians I admire would have to be Tony Royster Jr, Aaron Spears, Jay-z, Drake, Rihanna, Anderson Paak, and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few.
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
O1N – I was incarcerated twice once in D.C Jail and once in Maryland. No need to get into the depth of that because we are here now !
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
O1N – Some of the best Advice i’ve gotten is to just be YOURSELF. There’s never a need to fit in or to try to be something you’re not. As long as you’re genuine , you will attract genuine things.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
O1N – If i could change anything about the industry it would be all the fabrication and false advertisements that come with it. Too many people in the industry are living a facade, we need more genuine people not anymore fake.Another thing would be how labels take advantage of artists. That’s the main reason I started my own.
What’s next for you?
O1N – What next for O1N is only Up ! New Music, and a project ready to drop ! Also be on the lookout for all shows and live arrangements from myself and band ThunderBoyz Production.
