For the month of March, we have selected Alex Vaughn as our Model of the Month.

Q: What is your name and tell me about yourself?

Alex: My name is Alex Vaughn, I am a singer, songwriter, pianist, and all-around creative whose mission is to inspire myself and others as we step forward into our greatness!

Q: Where are you from?

Alex: I was born and raised in Prince George’s County, MD. I am currently in Capitol Heights.

Q: What inspired you to start your music career?

Alex: I’ve always been drawn to music. When I was little, my grandmother had an old piano in her house, and I would always find a way to crawl on it and bang on the keys. I’ve also been told that I used to hum when I chewed my food as a baby (lol)… As I got older music became more than a passion to me. It became more of a diary and the main way of communicating and articulating myself and my own thoughts. Of course, when you find something that sets your heart on fire while helping you become better, THATS the thing you have to pursue… (unless it’s bank robbing, lol)

Q: How long have you been rapping or singing for?

Alex: I’ve been singing and playing the piano literally my whole life. As long as I can remember.

Q: Have you ever collaborated with any other artists? If so, please name a few.

Alex: I collaborate all the time! As long as you’re tight and you’re serious about the craft, I’m down to work. I’ve made a lot of music with my friends/ fellow artists in the area, like FootsxColes, Matt McGhee, and Odd Mojo to name a few… and MANY more in the works *winks*

Q: What are some of your lifetime goals?

Alex: LIFETIME goals. Hmm… I want to be known and remembered internationally for always being true to myself and never limiting my gifts (movies, businesses, fashion, philanthropy, EVERYTHING) and really healing the world through my music and MOST IMPORTANTLY make sure my great-great-grandchildren can say that they’re part of the ALEX VAUGHN fortune… PERIOD!

Q: What do you have planned next for your music?

Alex: Just free-thinking & free-flowing creation. More projects, collabs with no questions, really me pushing my pen & experimenting. I like challenging myself.

Q: How well do you take criticism?

Alex: I don’t mind criticism because it’s all to make me better. With everything I’m ever told I process it & take what I want from it, but 9/10 I’ve probably said it to myself already.

Q: What is your motivation or inspiration behind your mind?

Alex: Wanting more & knowing I’m the only one to make it happen. Wanting to be an artist full time. My bank account (lol).  Working a day job. Getting a taste of what’s on the horizon but not fully having it. Not being where I want to be yet! That is my daily push.

Q: Do you support any other up and coming singers/rappers in your area? If so what are they?

Alex: I’m not going to get too into listing names because it’s a lot, but I support everyone in the DMV! We’re all a family, whether first cousins or distant (lol) & those who share the same values & drive & passion as well as actual TALENT are the ones I always come across. I root for anyone like that, whether I’m an actual fan or not.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the music game within the next couple of years?

Alex: I plan to be R&B’s sensation. Not an R& B sensation, but R&B’s sensation (God willing)

  • […] Now, will we see new music to celebrate the moment? I hope so because Alex Vaughn has put in years of work procuring quality music and I’m glad as a fellow DMV native to see the fruits of her labor pay off! For more information and background of her, check out her interview with Abu Sillah of TheDMVDaily here. […]
