Maryland and Virginia Ranked Amongst The Top 5 States For Teachers.

A recent study ranked Virginia and Maryland among the top five states for teachers, with Virginia securing third place and standing out for having the highest income growth potential nationwide. Virginia’s average starting teacher salary is $45,141, ranking 13th nationally. Meanwhile, Maryland also made the top five, highlighting the region’s strong support for educators. New York claimed the top spot, offering the best conditions for teachers, including an adjusted average annual salary of $82,571. In contrast, Washington, D.C., ranked 46th due to challenges like a high student-teacher ratio, while Maine was ranked the worst state for teachers at 51.
