Maryland school officials planning for possible fall closure

Maryland schools will close for at least a few more weeks with distance learning persisting through April.

Plans are already in the works in case the coronavirus forced schools to remain closed in the fall.

As of right now, schools have officially closed through April 24, but there is no definitive date.

Maryland State Superintendent Karen Salmon spoke to a bipartisan group of lawmakers when she converses about the fact that schools are preparing for the next phase of online learning, should the shutdown move on into the 2020-2021 season. The superintendent stated it is now time to take precaution for possibly going into the fall, reported by the Baltimore Sun.

Few experts say the second wave of coronavirus cases could strike again this fall.
