Maryland Sets Another COVID Vaccine Record, But Positivity Rate Trends Poorly

Maryland saw a continuous climb in positive testing rates for Saturday with reports of 1,000 daily new cases of coronavirus, according to The Baltimore Sun.

With all of that in mind, however, the state’s vaccination record has accelerated very quickly increasingly worrying COVID-19 analytics. On Saturday, the state reported to administering more than 78,000 shots, which is a new record.

For the fourth day in a row, Maryland health officials have confirmed that about 1,275 new cases have been added to the state’s tally.

Through a lot of March, the average number of new daily cases was somewhere between 700 and 900. Now the state’s 14-day average is closer to 1,200. During peak infections in the middle of January, the 14-day average was over 2,900.

Officials claim that 19 additional people were hospitalized since Friday, with the total people hospitalized to 1,064.

Maryland’s seven-day average testing positivity rate increased from 5.6% to 5.82% and the state remains above the 5% mark, which the World Health Organization considers a prerequisite for a safe reopening.
