The DMV Region Can Expect It’s First Snowstorm To Begin Your Workweek.
Winter is taking hold in the D.C. area, with a storm Sunday night into Monday offering the season’s first significant snowfall. Forecasts suggest snow totals could range from 3 to 9 inches, depending on the storm’s strength and track. While flurries may appear Friday evening, they are expected to be inconsequential. If conditions align, Monday’s storm, however, could bring moderate to heavy snowfall. Cold air will be firmly in place, but uncertainties remain due to the possible weakening of the storm as it moves through the region.
Below-average temperatures beyond Monday could create additional snow opportunities in mid-January. For now, Monday holds the best chance for a winter weather event.
