The Washington Nationals extended their win streak to four games Saturday afternoon getting a 7-2 win in the second game of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
The seven runs scored in the game by the Nationals brings their total to 97 in the last 10 games which is a franchise record for runs scored in a 10-game span.
The third inning was key for the Nationals as they scored four runs in the inning to extend their lead to 5-0. They would go on to score two more runs in the sixth and ninth inning on their way to a 7-2 win.
The Nationals win improves their record to 72-57, winning six of their last seven games, giving them a three game lead in the National League Wild Card playoff race and are six games behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East division.
The Nats and Cubs will play the final game of a three-game series tomorrow afternoon.
