According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, a Johns Hopkins doctor was shot in an attempted carjacking in Northeast Baltimore on Friday morning. Baltimore Police say the incident occurred around 7 a.m.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, a Johns Hopkins doctor was shot in an attempted carjacking in Northeast Baltimore on Friday morning.

Baltimore Police say the incident occurred around 7 a.m. near the junction of Loch Raven Boulevard and East 33rd Street. Officers responding to the area discovered a 38-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound near the 1200 block of East 3rd Street, according to police.

Dr. Madhu Subramanian, a trauma and acute care surgeon, was on his way to work at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center when the event occurred around the 3600 block of Loch Raven Boulevard, according to an internal email from Hopkins.

Dr. Subramanian was shot while attempting to flee the suspects. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, he was not gravely harmed and was treated and released.
