A bill to prohibit the use of ghost weapons passed the Maryland House on Tuesday and will now be sent to Gov. Larry Hogan’s desk.
Any gun manufactured after October 22, 1968, must have a serial number carved onto it, according to Senate Bill 387, sometimes known as the Untraceable Firearms Bill.
The bill also applies to guns inherited or purchased as parts or kits on the Internet. The ghost firearms are usually untraceable since they lack serial numbers.
On June 1, 2022, the bill would prohibit the sale of ghost weapons. Possession of these firearms would be outlawed in the state beginning March 1, 2023. You may face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found with a ghost gun.
