Gov. Wes Moore Set To Announce Largest State Pardon In Maryland History

Published

on

In the largest pardon in Maryland history, Governor Wes Moore is set to overturn 175,000 low-level marijuana convictions.

This act of clemency, among the largest in the U.S. involving marijuana, aims to remove barriers disproportionately affecting communities of color.

Recreational marijuana has been legal in Maryland since last year, following similar actions by nine other states.

The governor will announce the pardons at a press conference, with electronic court records updated within two weeks and criminal background checks cleared within 10 months.
