The former lawyer and fixer for President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, starts his 3-year prison sentence today.

Cohen had until 2 p.m. to report to the Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York. It’s a minimum security prison that includes 115 inmates. It includes recreational activities such as bocce ball, tennis courts, and horseshoes.

Once there Cohen will undergo a medical and mental health screening. He will then be assigned a prison job.

Cohen says “there is much more to be told.”

He was originally supposed to be in prison in March, but the judge granted him two months of time to recover from surgery and get his orders prioritized.

Other notable people in the prison currently are ‘Jersey Shore,’ reality star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino who is serving 8 months and Fyre Festival fraudster Billy McFarland who received 6 years.

Charges

On August 21, 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts that included, tax fraud, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations. In November of the same year, he pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about a Trump Tower project in Moscow, Russia and tax evasion and bank fraud.

Cohen was the only person charged with a crime in connection to hush money payments to women who were involved in affairs with Trump. This includes payments to former porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy Model Karen McDougal during the 2016 election.
