While going to a priority call, a Fairfax County officer was in a car accident

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, a motor officer was on his way to a priority call on Friday when he crashed into the back of a moving car. He was hurt badly, but his life was not in danger.

Around 12:30 p.m., the officer and two other cars were in the right-turn lane at the intersection of Braddock Road and Roanoke River Road, close to George Mason University.

The FCPD said that one of the motor units hit the back of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that had moved into the right lane of westbound Braddock Road and stopped to let police pass.

The Jeep’s 19-year-old driver wasn’t hurt in the accident and stayed at the scene. Police say that speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.

The 16-year FCPD officer was taken to a hospital, where he was checked out overnight and then sent home in the afternoon the next day.
