On April 19, Nigel Shelby, a 15-year-old freshman committed suicide after being bullied because he was gay. Shelby attended Huntsville High School in Alabama.
Every year it seems like bullying is becoming more and more relevant in our school systems. Since his death, a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for his family. So far its raised $16,731 and has a goal of $26,000. A candlelight vigil was also held for Shelby yesterday.
