The Washington Wizards notched their 10th win of the season with a 123-105 home win over the Miami Heat.

The Wizards have been ravaged by injuries leading to the team struggling to win games this season. In tonight’s game, in addition to John Wall, the Wizards were without Bradley Beal, Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans, Thomas Bryant, CJ Miles, and Mo Wagner.

Still, the Wizards were able to pull off the win with their efficiency playing a huge role. The team shot 43 of 84 from the field (52%) while shooting 17/37 from three-point range (46%) compared to the Heat shooting 45% from the field on 73 attempts and 36% from three-point range on 28 attempts.

Their ability to take care of the ball also played a huge role as they only commited nine turnovers to the Heat’s 18 turnovers. On defense, the Wizards forced 13 steals and blocked 6 shots compared to the Heat getting just five steals and blocking one shot.

Jordan McRae came off the bench to lead the Wizards in scoring in the game with 29 points adding eight assists and four rebounds. Rookie Garrison Matthews, also off the bench, followed with career-high 28 points with four three-pointers also a career high.

Ian Mahinmi scored 25 points for the Wizards while Ish Smith had 19 points, seven assists and three rebounds.

The Miami Heat were led by Jimmy Butler who finished the game with 27 points, six rebounds and four assists. Bam Adebayo finished with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds adding five assists.

Tonight was the last game for the Wizards this calendar year and in the decade. They will be back in action New Year’s Day when they face the Orlando Magic at home.
