Listen to BDX the Don New Single “Needed” + Get To Know Him As An Artist

Published

on

Hyattsville, MD recording artist BDX the Don has been rapping for 3 years now.  He classifies himself as very versatile because he can flow on any style of beat, which allows him to adapt to change.  He enjoys being lyrical and putting wordplay on certain songs or telling a story about a night out with the guys. The local talent made it on Netflix’s “Rhythm & Flow,” where he performed for TI, Quavo, and Big Boi and has performed at many colleges and gained radio play.  My intention is to gain a big enough platform to provide opportunities for the youth to chase their dreams and be themselves unapologetically. Get to know BDX the Don as a person below.

Who inspired you to get into writing?

I loved hip hop since I was a kid and finally decided to try my writing my own songs when I got into my teenage years.  I would say that Nas, BIG, and Pac had a big part in me starting to write more because it was a beautiful art form to me.

How would you describe the experience of writing a book?

To me, it’s no different than writing a song.   I would just talk about my perspective in an unfiltered, unapologetic manner.  I would want my reader to see the world through my eyes. If I don’t do that I feel like I’ve failed as an author.

We know it’s always a creative process with being an author, could you tell the people what’s your process like as a creator?

The writing bug doesn’t come every day so when it does, you want to write as much as possible because when you’re not forcing it, it’s more authentic and feels more natural.  That’s usually when I write my best work and feel great about it.

How would you say Social Media has impacted your development?

Social media can either be a big distraction or a way you can push yourself and present yourself to your desired audience.  It’s all about discipline on there, I’ve done a lot of business on Instagram and twitter so it’s been a great way to build a network and do great business.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice I’ve ever received was to be strategic of who I have in my circle.  You’re just as smart as the people you talk to for no reason, and if they aren’t bringing positive energy to your life or they’re talking about sports and goat debates for years, then they’re holding you back.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

There’s nothing I would change about myself.  I want to keep growing as an artist and an individual. But if anything I wish I could clone myself because there’s so much I be having to do.

Dope! So, what’s next for you?

After this single creates a buzz, I plan on dropping a project called “Expensive Taste,” which is my favorite project so far and I’m excited for the drop and the video shoots that’ll come with it. After that, I’ll be doing short films with Dontourage Productions.
