Maryland Teen Sentenced To Life For Murdering Former Boss In Anne Arundel County
A Maryland teenager has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of his former boss, Edward Koza, in a 2025 killing that investigators say ended with the victim being burned alive inside his vehicle. Anne Arundel County police said Jonah Poole was also ordered to forfeit approximately $215,000 he stole from Koza, the owner of Tropic Bay Water Gardens in Davidsonville.
Prosecutors said Poole and his girlfriend, Kylee Dakes, attacked Koza at his business, restrained him, drove him around in his own truck, then doused the vehicle with gasoline and set it on fire while Koza was still inside. Dakes, who is also charged with first-degree murder, is scheduled to stand trial in December. Authorities have not publicly identified a definitive motive for the killing.
