Taraji P. Henson will deliver the 2022 Commencement Address at Howard University

Taraji P. Henson, the Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress, will deliver the 2022 Commencement address, according to Howard University.

In 1995, Henson graduated from Howard University’s College of Fine Arts. She has since gone on to become an award-winning actor, producer, and director, as well as a best-selling author and philanthropist.

“It is with great pleasure that the Howard University community will welcome alumna Taraji P. Henson back home to deliver the 2022 Commencement address. Ms. Henson represents the University’s values of excellence in truth and service as an accomplished actor and strong fighter for HBCUs and the African American community at large. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her join us in honoring the Class of 2022.” – Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, President of Howard University

Henson, who was recently appointed to the White House HBCU Initiative advisory board by President Joe Biden, will address the class of 2022 and their families during the 154th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Howard will bestow the honorary doctorate of humane letters on Henson.
